π οΈ Method 3: AI Generated Slicing Utility Sets.
In-Place Time Slicing for the FI (Financial Accounting) Module in SAP S/4HANA
AppSafe now includes In-Place Time Slicing as a feature for the FI (Financial Accounting) module of the SAP S/4HANA system.
Why It Mattersβ
As organizations grow, historical financial data accumulates rapidly, slowing down critical processes. The In-Place Time Slicing feature addresses this by enabling users to work with a lean, clean, and focused dataset without physically archiving or removing data.
This allows teams to extract a subset of the production system for:
- Testing
- Training
- Simulation
- Innovation projects
The approach leads to faster turnaround time and fewer issues, as the dataset remains representative of real business conditions.
Key Benefitsβ
- πΉ Size Reduction with production copies for test, development, training, and innovation environments
- π° Reduced Cost due to smaller infrastructure footprint for lower environments
- β‘ Reduced Time with RAG-based AI to boost consulting efficiency
- π Can be combined with data scrambling to ensure security and compliance
How to Useβ
-
Go to the Utility Sets screen and click βCreateβ to begin creating a Utility Set.
-
In the New Utility Set creation screen:
- Fill in the Utility Set Name
- Select Creation Mode as
AI Generated Slicing
-
Enter Slicing Parameters in the UI:
- Client: A numeric field corresponding to the client in S/4HANA
- Application Component: Currently supports
FI
(Financial Accounting). Future support will includeMM
,SD
, etc. - Time Slice Period (Years): Number of years to slice (excluding the current year)
Example: Client: 100 Application Component: FI Time Slice Period: 3 Years
- Click Next to navigate to the Utility 2/2 screen.
Utility 2/2 Screenβ
- Displays the list of FI module tables sliced using In-Place Time Slicing.
- User can specify tables for which utility parameters and conditions should be applied.
- Multiple tables should be comma-separated
- If the table field is left blank, all tables will be scanned
